Tools of the Trade

One gadget that gets a lot of use in my music studio is my laminator.  It helps keep the games we use with our students looking great ... which is more appealing to students than playing with things that are torn and worn out!  I stumbled across a great deal today -- just thought I'd share!

"Two Much Fun"

It's been a musical weekend!

One of the highlights was the "Two Much Fun" recital put on by several teachers in the Edmonton area.  I was invited to have some of my students participate this year.  It was a great experience for everyone involved!

A number of years ago a couple teachers got together and organized the first "Two Much Fun" and it's become an annual event for 16+ years.

This year 74 students participated.  There were 5 pianos on stage.  We heard folk tunes, jazz, rags, blues, classical, tunes from musicals -- a real variety of music played by beginner up to advanced musicians.

All in all it really was "Two Much Fun"!

'Tis the Season

It's at this time of the year that I really appreciate my job. Most of the students have been in piano since September and the improvement in performance over the past months is very noticeable after just a few months. For example, I was playing a game with my Moonbeam 1 students tonight and am amazed at how well they already know their notes and can apply it to playing "real" songs (even with chords!) after just 16 weeks of piano classes. It's very rewarding to see all the "aha" moments ... the pride the students have when they are able to perform for each other. I am looking forward to a few weeks break and getting back to class again in January! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!
